  • Twinkle Toes!

    Twinkle Toes!
I would like to get this straight right off the bat. When you start a "dance class" when you are three years old, you are practically signing up for a play time. I'd like to say I've improved from the times when we would sit on a giant sun flower where each petal is someone's spot. I can't say I have.

  • Baby's First Halloween!

    Baby's First Halloween!
My fist halloween was bundled into a one piece owl costume with my arms for wings and the hood as the head. It was really hot in there. That year though was below zero however and with snow aplenty. My mom and my sister actually slipped and tried to pull me down with them. Apparently I got all the balance in my family.

  • My 1st Violin!

    My 1st Violin!
I got my first violin (it was a 1/8 size) in 2003. I didn't get to play it though till my teacher taught me the basics. It was so small I can't believe that once it fit me perfectly. http://photography.mojado.com/archives/2004/11/06/beauty.php
  • Floaty Rides Again!

    Floaty Rides Again!
My cousin Kyle has computer smarts, hates shrimp, and looks a little like Sheldon Cooper from the Big Bang Theory. He was my arch nemesis. I think it goes without saying that if you try to drown a four year olds floaty, you have made an enemy for life. I had always his family, but was traumatized by him trying to drown my beloved floaty in a resorts pool. Boy, when I shed those crocadile tears he got in sooo much trouble. (He he he he he.)

  • Baby's 1st Concert!

    Baby's 1st Concert!
Every year the Suzuki Program has a Christmas Concert and it was my first time. Parents always literally stand behind their kid when they're on stage. When it was time to go on my dad was missing, I was the only kid without a parent behind them. Turns out HE got stage fright.

  • Mini "Soccer"

    Mini "Soccer"
This was the year I started soccer. That is if you count picking dandylions and providing colour comentary in your head "soccer". My coaches always joked that the fastest I would ever run was at snack time (I went from the far end to the other side line before most kids had started running). It goes without saying I always got the juice box I wanted.

  • Don't Let Go!

    Don't Let Go!
I learned to ride a bike that year the same way many kids do. That was also the year I learned my parents were liars. Big coincidence right? Not. I learned the same way practically every other kid in North America. I asked my parents time and time again if they were going to let go. They promised me faithfully that they wouldn't, but they did, so I went CRASH! It took a couple times and I kept falling but gosh darnet, I did it!

  • Metal Mouth!

    Metal Mouth!
After the agony of waiting to sit in a chair for two hours while a person glued (cemented) peices of metal into my mouth, I got my braces. Not fun. That same day though I went for my first riding lesson and told my horse after I put it's bit in, "We both have things in our mouths that we don't like, but we both have to suck it up and deal with it". My instructor LOVED that.

  • National Poetry Winner!

    National Poetry Winner!
Mr.Farough's class always enters poetry contests and always someone gets published. No presure on us right. I entered my poem and months later people started getting letters that told them they had been picked to be in the book ("Under the Pumpkin Tree"). I got mine two days later and was just one more who made it. Later that week my dad told me he literally forgot to tell me that the publisher had called and I had won!

  • Fell in Love with "I Love Lucy"!

Fell in Love with "I Love Lucy"!
Lucy was my first and possibly will ever be my only love. All summer long from the moment I first found the show made in the 1950's and aired in black and white, I recorded every episode and watched them practically 24/7 and would often watch the same episode 3-6 times a day. Now I have less time for good old Lucy, Ricky, Fred, and Ethel but they will still remain in my heart for now and always.

  • The Banana Bandit

    The Banana Bandit
We went camping to Falcon Lake and two days in we heard there was a deer eating watermelon from a campsite not to far from ours. So we went for a walk and saw this weird sight of a family feeding the deer their watermelon. When we got back to our camp around lunchdad opened the car to unload some food and while the trunk was open the same deer walked up and took the bananas from their basket. It got one but dad stole the others back.

  • "Pickin Cherries"

    "Pickin Cherries"
We (Tracy and I) had just finished our riding lessons at Miracle Ranch and thought we would have to spend the rest of the summer dreading the upcoming school year when the owner of the ranch said that we could come and volunteer. Of course we said yes (I'm not scared of getting my hands dirty) and started the following week. We loved it even if all we did was sweep out stalls, brush and tack the horses for trail rides and "pick cherries".

  • Failing at Fishing

    Failing at Fishing
When we were in Florida my mom and her friends wanted to go deep sea fishing because they thought they would catch a lot of fish and basically have an all you can eat buffet. Not. When we got on the water despite the sea sick pills they had taken and tried to force down my own throat they ended up sitting inside fighing heavy sea sickness. I wasn't feeling to hot myself but I stayed out and caught exactly one fish. Tada!

  • Being the Cat's Meow

    Being the Cat's Meow
I was chosen as one of the seven lucky kids in the Suzuki program to get to play at the childrens festival with Fred Penner. My teacher, who was organizing this nicknamed us the "Cat's Meow". http://www.flickr.com/photos/75898532@N00/5977314217/
  • The Grand Staircase in the Blue Mountins

The Grand Staircase in the Blue Mountins
When we were in Australia visiting mom's family we went hiking in the Blue Mountins. It was absolutely beautiful. To be even with the clouds then on the ledge of a mountin, then in a rainforest getting licked by the mist of waterfalls. WOW. There are so many things I loved about the national pass trail but the most amazing would probably be the staircase with if I remember correctly 1000 steps (grand staircase) carved out of the edge of the mountin. Goosebumps!

  • Lane four, Cathy Freeman

    Lane four, Cathy Freeman
Before we left Australia, dad wanted us to run on the same track Cathy Freeman won the 400 meters in. So we went and warmed up and me and Tracy did some sprints in lane four. P.S. running in the same lane on the same track as an olympic gold medalist does not make you go any faster.

  • Learned how to Sail!

    Learned how to Sail!
For 1 week everyday we went to Fort White and went sailing. It was a lot of fun, even capsizing which was not my fault. The girl we were with would not let the boom out even when I repeated the wise words of advise from our instructer. 'When in doubt, boom out.' But she never so I also got the experience of swimming under an overturned boat and trying to get her to back on board once I had righted it. http://www.fotocommunity.com/pc/pc/display/29249842
  • TOUGH Track

    TOUGH Track
Tracy did Tough Track last year to find out if she liked it. If she liked it then I would go and try to fit it into my hecktic schedule. And she did, so I'm going. I go with Danny and we work out in the Max Bell. It isn't as bad as I thought it would be but they do get your heart pumping. I learned that you actually are supposed to run upright. That was an "I get it" moment for me.

  • To be Taught by a Legend (not you Mr.Bhugtana)

To be Taught by a Legend (not you Mr.Bhugtana)
When I started out on the violin the teacher to get was Joahnne Martin. Problem was, she only did workshops for she travels the world teaching our teachers. She taught my teacher and this year she told her she would have some lessons with four of her students. A beginner, a book one, an exchange student and any one else. That became me. I learned so much in that time and am really grateful that I was given that chance to work with her.

  • The Three Year Itch

    The Three Year Itch
After three years without gum, toffee, and "guilt free" popcorn, my braces came off only for me to be stuck with a lisp for six weeks. Sigh... Then I have to wear my retainer to bed every night for a year then on and off for the rest of my life!! That had so not been mentioned before. But as consolation they gave me a gift bag with all the foods I couldn't eat before (without mishaps) so finally I can cheew gum! Yes!

  • Mind the Flags!

    Mind the Flags!
We were in Florida at the beach and the flag that day warned of marine life washing ashore. So we decided not to swim but just indulge in the fun of collecting sea shells. I had already seen a colourful eel swimming in the shallow water and crab being swallowed by the sand. I didn't however see the sea turtle I stepped on. I heard that turtles bite and don't let go. This one thankfully just swam away. Phew!
