    I was born in Mt. Shasta, CA at 5:35pm and I weighed 5lbs. 5oz. I was born to Michelle and Robert Ekman and was their very first child. I was 18 inches long.

    In Spetember of 1996, the Nintendo 64, a gaming system invented in China, was issued to the United States for the first time. This event was the start of a huge breakthrough in the Nintendo industry and is now one of the most popular entertainment systems in the world.

    Sister's Birth
    My little sister Morgan was born at Mercy Medical Center in Mt. Shasta, CA and weighed 6lbs. 7oz. She was born at 11:32pm and she was 19 inches long. I was super excited to have a little sister and she has become one of my best and closest friends.

    In June of 1998, the very first book in the Harry Potter series, The Philosopher's Stone, was released to the United States. It was written by J.K. Rowling and is now a very popular series known by people all around the world.

    Oprah Winfrey, a popular talk show host and celebrity, debuts the first issue of O Magazine. As of June 2004, its average paid circulation was over 2.7 million copies.The magazine inspires readers to live their best lives by presenting information, advice, and tools focused on self-empowerment.

    My little brother Carson was born at Mercy Medical Center in Mt. Shasta at 8:46am and weighed 7lbs. 5oz. He was 19 inches long. I was super excited to have another baby in the house to play with and so was everyone else.
  • First Surgery

    At 5 years old, I had my first surgery in Mt. Shasta at Mercy Medical Center around Valentine's Day. I was very scared, but my parents stayed with me through it and made me feel better. I remember taking my favorite baby doll with me and she also made me feel better.

    Submarine Sinks Japanese Fishing Boat
    In February of 2001, A US Submarine, Greenville, sinks a Japanese fishing boat near Diamond Head, Oahu. This event killed a total of 9 passengers; 4 teenagers, 2 instructors, and 3 crewmen. The USS Greenville was practicing an emergency surfacing procedure during the incident.

    At 5 years old, I started my first day of kindergarten at Weed Elementary School. I was super nervous, but when I got there and met all of the nice kids, I felt super welcome. I met most of my closest friends in kindergarten and we have been friends ever since.

    9-11
    On September 11, 2001 two planes were hijacked and crashed into the Twin Towers in New York City, NY. The buildings crumbled to the ground, killing thousands of people who were inside them, near them, or inside the planes. It was later found out that the hijackers were hired by Osama Bin Laden.This event is now known as 9-11.
  • Space Shuttle Columbia Explodes

    Space Shuttle Columbia Explodes
    In February 2003, A Space Shuttle known as the "Columbia" disintegrated over Texas and Louisiana trying to enter into the Earth's atmosphere. The explosion killed all 7 passengers and the remains of the shuttle fell all over Texas and partly in Louisiana. The shuttle was scheduled to conclude its 28th mission when this event occured.

    My little brother Connor was born at Fairchild Medical Center in Yreka at 6:21am and weighed 8lbs. 11oz. He was 20 inches long. He was actually a surprise to everyone because my mom wasn't expecting him, but we were definitely excited.

    In January 2010, an earthquake occurs in Haiti, killing over 316,000 people and destroying many homes. The earthquake had a magnitude of 7.0 Mw. Several notable landmark buildings were damaged or destroyed due to the earthquake, including the Presidential Palace, the National Assembly building, the Port-au-Prince Cathedral, and the main jail.
  • World's Largest Oil Spill

    World's Largest Oil Spill
    In April 2010, the world's largest oil spill was discovered and leaked over 5 million barrels of oil into the Gulf Coast. It damaged hundreds of beaches and killed thousands of animals that not only lived in the soiled water, but on the beaches as well.

    In the Spring of 2010, I started my first year of softball in 8th grade. I was at practice learning how to slide, and I landed wrong and broke both bones in my leg. Because the break was so bad, I had to have surgery. I currently have a titanium plate and six screws holding it together. It definitely changed my life.

    8th Grade Graduation
    In June of 2010, I graduated from 8th grade with a class of about 20 kids. I was super excited and ready to move onto high school with my best friends and start a new chapter in my life. The only thing that I could've done without was graduating on crutches.

    In June 2010, the third movie from the Twilight Saga, Eclipse, was released to theaters all around the world. It was the first Twilight film released in IMAX and it held the record for the biggest midnight opening in the US and Canada in box office history, grossing an estimated $30 million.

    In August of 2010, I started my first year of high school. I was really excited but also nervous at the same time. After my first day I realized that I had nothing to be afraid of and gained many new friends to help me through all of my nervousness.
  • XXX Summer Olympics

    In July 2010, the XXX Summer Olympics were held in London, England. Some events included cycling, swimming, beach volleyball, and gymnastics. In fact, our US gymnasics team took home the gold medal and will be remembered for years to come.
  • First Trip to San Francisco

    First Trip to San Francisco
    This summer before school started, my sister, mom, grandma, and I all took a trip to Vacaville and San Francisco to go school shopping, Going to San Francisco has always been a dream of mine and I finally got to fulfill that dream. I had so much fun and I would definitely like to go again someday.
