I was born on DEC. 7, 1924 in Budapest to a Jewish family. When I was 6, I moved to Paris. I quickly learned French and excelled in school and had interest in poetry and music.

in 1933-39, my father argued against fascism when Hitler became chancellor of Germany in 1933. I just concentrated on my studies and got accepted into Louis-le-Grand Secondary School, the prestigious in Paris. During this time, I was upset that Hungary has enforced anti-Jewish Laws.

During 1940-44, after Germany occupied France, my mother enisted in a woman's resistance group.I joined the progressive students' organization in 1941 and later mybrother Bela, joined the army resistance group:Franc-Tieurs et Partisans.
