  • Pencils that started it all

    Pencils that started it all
The pencil has been a tool that has been around since the late 19th century according to the technology timeline. The farthest that I remember using this is before school even started. I added this since it's a basic tool that every student has used at one point.
  • Slowly pushing technology

    Slowly pushing technology
When I was in Kindergarten, I watched the Wizard of Oz during a rainy day in Louisiana. I added this because this was one of the first times I recall seeing this kind of technology in a classroom.
  • Chalking it up

    Chalking it up
When I was in first grade in Louisiana, my teacher had a chalkboard and chalk that she taught with. We got to go up to the board and write our names and do other activities with it. I added this because the chalkboard was an important technology that dates back to the 1900s.
  • Leaping into new technology

    Leaping into new technology
In third grade, my teacher had this station that was reading with LeapFrog devices. You would insert the cartridge for the book you wanted into the device and then you could do different activities for the book and if you clicked the word, it read it to you. I chose this because it was mind blowing for me as a student to use this technology to learn. I loved it so much my mom even bought me one.
  • Projecting the Problems

    Projecting the Problems
When I was in fourth grade, I saw a lot of technology. The first one is a projector in my classroom. This required teachers to turn a roll of clear sheets to write on with Expo markers. I included this one because this was tech my teacher relied on to teach us math. It was big enough that everyone could see it and it was clear as well.
  • Getting Smart

    Getting Smart
In fourth grade, I had a smart board installed in the classroom. We had one in our music room but never saw one in the classroom until this moment. We were all in awe with it. I chose to add this because as students, we were all in awe of how much the smartboard worked and how much of a difference it made for us and the teacher.
  • Computer Classes for the Win!

    Computer Classes for the Win!
This is now the technology I had in middle school. Though I used computers in elementary school, I used them more going into middle school at this time in my life. I had multiple computer classes and used them to complete projects in class.
  • Production and Presenting

    Production and Presenting
In 7th grade, I joined a Media/Broadcasting class. In this class was where I was introduced to the teleprompter. This helped my classmates and I know what to say for the news that was shown in the morning to the whole school. I added this because I was amazed seeing my teacher type one thing and then it reflected so I can read it.
  • iCouldn't Believe It!

    iCouldn't Believe It!
When I was in 8th grade, my school was chosen to receive a grant that allowed everyone to receive an iPad of their own. It was such a fun experience. I added this into the timeline because not only was this tech I was allowed to take home, I was able to use it for multiple purposes.
  • They See Me Rolling...We're Excited

    They See Me Rolling...We're Excited
When I was in 8th grade, I remember that this was when teachers would be using laptop carts in class. I saw it mostly in science class and we would use it to look up answers to different topics. I added this to the timeline because I thought it was cool how I could take the technology with me just like how I could with my iPad. The technology was changing for the better
  • Calc it up!

    Calc it up!
When I was in tenth grade, I used a calculator frequently in my Geometry Honors class. Every student had one on their desk and through it was small, it got the job done. I added this because using this calculator in class helped me solve problems faster and get problems done more efficiently.
