My K-12 public school education ended on June 4, 1999 with my graduation from high school.

I spent the next four years going to school part-time at Merced Community College. I worked full-time as an assistant manager at Jack-in-the-Box to pay for my education. Merced College was a good stepping stone and helped me adjust to college level courses. In January of 2003, I finally had enough credits to transfer to state college.

I attended part-time at California State University Stanislaus while continuing to manage my fast food restaurant. I also got married and had two children during this time. My major was Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources. After four years, I finally graduated with a 3.57 GPA!

After having my second child, I began substitute teaching as a way to make a little money and choose my own work schedule. I realized that I belong in a classroom and decided to get my teaching credential. I graduated the credential program with a 4.0 and my multiple subject teaching credential.

In order to teach middle school and receive authorization to teach Industrial and Technology Education courses, I needed to take a secondary methodology class and pass the CSET for Industrial and Technology Education. I took an online course with University of Phoenix to fulfill the coursework requirement.

I came back to my old stomping grounds, Merced Community College to hone my skills in the industrial arts as well as gain credits. This was a survey course that included metal working, electrical wiring, plumbing, construction, and wood working. I learned a ton of practical skills!

I am presently continuing my professional development by taking a self-paced course to learn technology tools to empower students. This class is giving me tons of ideas for next year's projects!
