  • Why It Was Founded

    Why It Was Founded
Gerard graduated the School of Visual Arts, New York in 1999 and was selling comic books. Then he witnessed 911. He quit his job, along with high school friend Matt Pelissier, formed My Chemical Romance. They recorded demos with Ray, then Frank joined. Just before their first gig, they realised they were in need of a bassist, and added Mikey. He had 2 weeks to improve his skills, and gave them the idea to name the band after the Irvine Welsh book Ecstasy: Three Tales of Chemical Romance.
