I started as a Freshman at Wake Forest University. I decided to double major in Biology and History. Moved into the dorm and met my first college roommate, Bob.

After turning donw a Four-Year Army scholarship, but taking two years of ROTC classes, I get a Two-Year Scholarship and commit to the U.S. Army as a Scholarship Cadet. Also serve on the Ranger Challenge Team and the ROTC Color Guard/Honor Guard.

As one of the first in a new program, I helped teached bioogy labs as an undergraduate, knowing I wanted to teach.

Six weeks at sunny Fort Bragg learning about the military, each branch in the U.S. Army, and working our tails off and being "educated" by senior enlisted personnel

A very proud day, I graduated as a Biology / History double major and was formally commisioned into the U.S. Army in front of the whole crowd.

Started my Master's Degree in Biology at Wake Forest studying cold weather survival in the endangered Southern Flying Squirrel

Got a job doing environmental chemistry with a research company in Research Triangle Park. Suffered through the daily commute every day.

I took a break from my Master's and departed NC for the new Engineer School at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri

I finished U.S. Army Engineer Officer Advanced, "officially" graduated with my Masters, and moved to Cary

I held several jobs, but then started on a PhD at NCSU.

Not sure what to do, I started a PhD program at North Carolina State University in the Zoology Department, with minors in Physiolgy and Ecology.

I got a job teaching part time at Wake Technical Community College on the Health Science Campus. I helped design and teach labs for the new Biomedical Sciences Department.

I was hired as the second person in the Biomedical Sciences Department teaching Human Anatomy and Physiology and Pathophysiolgy.

I teach full-time at WTCC, I have two wonderful sons, and I am doing well in the Army. I walk away from my PhD, my life too full and busy, and so my wife could work on hers.

The world, the U.S. and North Carolina all changed, as did my military career. I was now in an Army at war.

I accepted a set of orders as second in command of a 130 person team training Soldiers for their deployments to Iraq or Afghanistan. Very rewarding work, and sort of teaching for an even more "real world."

I work several different jobs with the Army during this time, including training personnel for combat deployments, my own combat tour, and working as a strategic planner.

I went back to teaching, but at the high school level to interact with students and parents more, mentor, and coach.

My time back in the classroom, and all the advenures it continues to hold.
