  • Berlin captured

    World war two ended and Berlin is divided into 4 sectors. The Soviets in the east. The next three sectors were placed in the west, with the British, French, and U.S.
  • Demarcation line

    The beginning of the Berlin Wall starts with the demarcation like being guarded. This was meant to mark the difference between the est and west.
  • Interzone pass

    As they began to get serious about segregating the eastern people from the western people. They began to issue inter zone passes that lasted 30 days. This let them know who was who, and who was to stay and who wasn't
  • Currency

    They began to issue different types of currency across both the east and west.This currency reform created two different countries.
  • Berlin Blockade

    The Berlin blockade attempted to limit the movement of the French,British, and United States citizens in their sector.
  • Berlin Airlift

    When they couldn't receive goods the western sector had a plan. They began to drop their necessities from planes, hence the Berlin airlift. This lasted for over a year and was a very efficient way of trade.
  • End of Berlin blockade

    With the end of the blockade the western sector could now move freely throughout their sections.
  • FRG

    Western Germany was formally separated from the rest of its country when they changed their name to the Federal Republic of Germany.
  • Berlin Airlift ends

    This marks the end of having to drop their necessities from planes. This draws importance because

    The East Germans formally change their name to show separation. the choose the German Democratic Republic.
  • Red Army Suppression

    The Construction workers have an uprising about the imposition of more work. They are suppressed by the Red Army with tanks.
  • Interzone passes

    The western sector begins to refrain from using interzone passes. The soviets follow along but they also need a pass to travel.
  • Prison Time

    Now leaving east Germany can land you in jail. Up to 3 years in jail could await you if you attempt to escape.
  • Barriers built

    Finally east and west Germany were divided by barriers. They weren't aloud to use interzone passes anymore.
  • Bradenburg gate

    On eastern soil there was a Romanic era gate. They closed it so that u couldn't enter or exit.
  • JFK

    The president visits Berlin and starts speach with," I am a Berliner."
  • Travel

    After 2 years the east could finally crossover into the west. This could mean their feud was over.
  • Berlin Wall closed

    The wall was finally closed. Then the Two sectors can finally travel through Berlin without conflict.
