    Impressionism 1865-1890

    A movement that began in middle part of the 19th century in France with heavy emphasis placed on the visual impressions of the shifting effects of color and light. The purpose of the movement was to capture the experience or feeling more that depicting accuracy. Characteristics include small, thin, visible brushstrokes, capturing the movement of ordinary subjects and unusual visual angles.
