    The First Fleet part 1
    In 1788 11 ships were led by governor Arthur Phillip and reached Botany Bay to begin a penal colony. The claim included islands of New Zealand. The Fist Fleet carried convicts from England to Botany Bay and sailed from Portsmouth on the 13th of May 1787.It arrived at Botany Bay on the 18th of January 1788.Soon after the Fleet made its way a short distance up the coast on the 25th of January 1788 and entered Sydney Harbour and anchored in Sydney cove. On board there was around 1500 people.

    Captain James Cook was born on the 27th of October 1728 and died on the 14th of Febuary 1779.In 1787 a fleet of eleven ships sailed from England that reached Botany Bay on the 18th of January in 1788. Eight days later the fleet left and travelled a few kilometres to Port Jackson this settlement grew to be Sydney Australia’s largest city. Settlements were established in Hobart in 1803, on the Brisbane River Queensland in 1824,

    In February 1851 Edward Hargraves discovered gold traces in Summer hill creek near Bathurst. Gold was found before the 1850s.Australias population increased by 300 percent during the gold rush. In 1852 370,000 immigrants arrived in Australia. Victoria contributed to more than one third of the world’s gold in 1850. In 1849 gold was also discovered in the united states of America. Gold was also found in other sites of NSW. NSW yielded 26.5 tonnes of gold in 1852.

  • Ned Kelly part 1

    Ned Kelly was an Irish Australian bushranger and was born In Victoria in 1854 and was the youngest of eight children and died at the gallows in the Melbourne gaol on the 11th of November 1880. Ned Kelly’s criminal life started early at he age of 14 he was arrested for assaulting a chinese man.

    . He was arrested again for being a suspect as a bushranger named Harry Power they had dismissed the charges but the police caught him again. Some years later a police officer named Fitzpatrick went to the Kelly home to arrest Ned’s brother Dan for stealing horses. Ned Kelly death was by hanging.

    Australia became a nation in the 1st of January 1901.Sir Henry Parkes is known as the father of federation. Sir Henry Parkes was born on the 21st of May 1815 and died in 1896 four years before his dream became true of a federated Australia. He was also the youngest of seven children and born in England.

    The Parkes arrived in Australia in 1839. He was elected to be the premier in New South Wales parliament in 1854.He was the premier of New South Wales five times. Australia became a nation on the 1st of January 1901. In 1901 a competition held to select a new national flag for Australia.
