He was born in 570 in a town called Mecca. His name means "to praise, to glorify." He grew up learning pure arabic.

Around the age of 5 his mother took him to Yathrib. Yathrib was an oasis town a couple hundred miles north of Mecca to stay with his family. On their way back to Mecca, his mom passed away. He then lived with his grandfather, who was one of the most respected leaders in Arabia.

In his early twenties, Muhammad started work for a widow named Khadija bint Khawalayd. She was the mother of the believers. He carried her goods to the north and returned with a profit. She eventually proposed to Muhammad. In 595, they got married.

He started making retreats to a mountain cave outside his town. He fasted and then he meditated. It took him several years to talk about this outside his family, he was visited by an overpowering presence and instructed to recite words of such beauty and force that he attributed them to go.

In 613, he finally started to tell people about the messages he was receiving. These were then gathered verse by verse and became the Qur'an. The Qur'an is Islam's sacred scripture.

Muhammad and a couple hundred followers left Mecca and traveled to Yathrib. Yathrib was the town his father was buried in. He stayed here for 6 years while building the first Muslim community.

There were three major battles in the next 3 years. They won one battle, lost one, and outlasted the third. In 628, a treaty was signed between the two sides. Muslim's were the new force in Arabia. One year later, Meccan allies breached the treaty a year later.

All the power that Mecca once had all went towards Mohammad and the Muslims. They marched on Mecca and as they walked by each tribe they all kept joining along the way. Meccan's joined them because once they entered Mecca no blood was shed and they saw how much they had changed and joined them.

He returned to live in Medina. For the next three years he tried to improve the Arabian Peninsula under Islam. He returned to Mecca for one last time to perform a pilgrimage and thousands of Muslims joined him.

He returned to Medina. Three months later on June 8 he died there due to an Illness, Mohammad is buried in the mosque in Medina. To this day, Mohammad's teaching's and way of life have spread all over the world, just the way the bible has spread around the world.
