  • Proclamation of Neutrality

    The proclamation was administrated by George Washingtion 1793. This proclamation stated that America would stay netural in all wars with other countries. That we would not chose any side during a war but intsead try and avoid combat as a whole.
  • XYZ Affair

    The XYZ Affair was when French agents demanded money from American diplomates before they could meet Marquis de Talleyrand. The Untited States took this as a brib and did not like the Frenches actions and this lead to the Quasi-War.
  • Convention of 1800

    This is what ended the Quasi-War between the French and United States. France agreed to return all the captured American ships. The United States gave 20 million dollars to its citizens to pay for the damages that the French inflicted on there boats. These events ended there Alliance but they granted each other favorable trade.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    This was when the United States purchased the Louisiana Land Territory fom France. The terriotry extended from The Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains.
  • Embargo Act of 1807

    The Embargo Act was put in place by President Jefferson. The act was put in place to try and hinder the French and British in there fighting. The Embargo Act closed all United States ports and this upset many civilians. It also didn't change the British and French fighting situation.
  • War of 1812

    The War of 1812 was a war between the United States and Britain. The United States declared war on Great Britain after they keep taking United States ships and imprisoning American merchants. Along with them harassing the Western Frontier the United states decided to declare war.
  • Treaty of Ghent

    The Treaty of Ghent ended the war of 1812. It was signed by Britain and America at Ghent, Belgium. The treaty stated that all conquered land had to be returned and that the boundary between Canada and the United States had to be settled.
  • Monroe Doctrine

    The Monroe Doctrine was written by President James Monroe. The doctrine stated that no foreign colonization or interventions in the Americas. It also said that the United States would stay neutral in neutral affairs. This would help outline foreign policy for a long time.
