Post second World war migration started
People from England came over to Australia to get a better life. They were given special privileges to come over. Australia needed skilled workers and people to defend it and they came from England and countries from across Europe. Some of the people helped with the Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme. -
More diverse migration
Australia is letting more multicultural people come here and live their culture and traditions. People from Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos immigrated to Australia because there was war in their countries. -
Immigration in the 21st century
The government changed the immigration policy to want more skilled migrants who could go into high priority jobs and temporary migration before permanent settlement.
