  • Sykes Picot Agreement

    Sykes Picot Agreement
    France and Great Britain divided up the Arab world. Syria and Lebanon were directly influenced by France, and Palestine, Iraq, and Trans Jordan were indirectly ruled by the British. Arabs thought that what the British and the French did was a betrayal for them because they broke the Hussein- McMahon correspondence.
  • Balfour Declaration

    Balfour Declaration
    The British provided the Jews with a homeland in Palestine. Big numbers of Jews emigrated from Europe to Palestine. Conflicts between the Arabs and the Jews initiated which lead to a physical violent in Palestine.
  • Reformations in Iran

    Reformations in Iran
    The Shah Reza revolted against the king in Iran. After becoming the king, he adobted western styles in terms of clothing and economics.
  • The End of the Ottoman Empire

    Arabs contacted Westerns which lead to the Great Arab Revolution that ended the Ottoman Empire. World War I is nearly over because the Ottoman Empire was one major power involved in it. The changes that happened afterward had an impact on the Middle East.

    The countries that were part of the Cold War started to help other countries from the Middle East against each other like Iraq, Egypt, and Kuwait. The Cold War helped in stopping the Suez Canal crisis between Egypt, United Kingdom, Israel, and France.

    The Independance of Jordan
    The independence of Jordan led to kicking out all of the British and negating their rule. The independence of Jordan empowered people because it made them fired up and willing to do anything after the British influence. Helped a lot of Palestinians because at that time Jews were immigrating to Palestine.

    The United Nations declared a Jewish state in Palestine. Many of the Palestinians had to evacuate from their homeland. The crisis is still going on recently.
  • The Suez Canal Crisis

    The Suez Canal Crisis
    The UK, France, and Israel attacked Egypt to get the Suez Canal back. Russia threatens the UK and France that if they did not withdraw their powers from Egypt, Russia will launch nuclear bombs at them. The USA stands against its allies to avoid having a war.

    1967 June War
    Israel defeated Egypt, Syria, and Jordan. The three countries lost parts of their lands. The Suez Canal stopped working because governments becamse scared of trading through the Suez Canal. The Palestinian-Israeli conflict became even worse.

    The Iraq-Kuwait War
    Iraq invaded Kuwait for selling a lot of oil and for considering the money that Kuwait gave to Iraq as a loan. The USA attacked Iraq and launched spectators from the UN to look for Weapon of Mass Destruction. Iraq kicked the spectators in which gave the Americans an excuse to invade them.
