In the late 1970's I was 5-6 years old. I remember listening to the Village People and disco on big 8 track tapes which were high end technology back then.

In 1982 I began first grade and was exposed to overhead transparencies.

My dad bought an old electric typewriter to write his resume and cover letters as he searched for teaching positions. The space bar had broken off and he made a replacement out of a small piece of wood.

In 1983 my first real exposure to computers happened when I was allowed to use a single Apple computer to play educational games in school. There was only one computer available for all of third grade!

We got a Walkman that my dad let us use. It was the coolest technology ever!

In the mid 1980's video laser discs came out along side the VHS. The discs were the next big thing. But unfortunately they did not take off.....not until CDs came around.

My work at the U of U (Workstudy job) had us using a small MAC to track locker and supply issueing. We got a line connected to the internet and I registered my first email account with Hotmail.

Cell phones were not yet common place,but in the mid 90's pagers were. I got a pager and paid $15/month to keep in contact with my girlfriend.

In 2004 I finally gave in to the cell phone technolgoy and got my first cell phone. It was a gift from my girlfriend.

I didn't get my first flat screen TV until my wife and I were married and we used wedding money to purchse one. We still have it as our main tv in the living room.

It wasn't until I got a decent cell phone that my wife introduced me to the micro SD card. Wow....this was tiny Mission Impossible type technology available to the general public I thought.

I had to buy my first laptop computer, also my first personally owned computer, in order to complete online coursework and research for Army schools I was taking.

My wife bought me a digital MP3 player so I could listen to music while I ran. So cool and sleek. It held 8GB.

My job buys us I Pad 2's for "work". I use it for internet surfing and my 3 and 5 year old know how to use it better than me; using it for games and school fun and websites for kids.

My wife wanted an X Box to play interactive games. I still don't know how to set it up. But my 3 and 5 year old do!!
