  • 1200 BCE

    Early Mexico

    (Extra research) /The Olmecs, Mexico's first known society, settled on the gulf coast near where is now called Veracruz./ They flourished from about 1200 to 900 B.C. Between 100 B.C and 700 A.D, Teotihuacan was created by the Mayans and soon abandoned their home. The Aztecs were the last of pre-Colombian Mexico's great civilizations and went to the central valley of Mexico around 1427.

    The defeat of the Aztecs

    (Extra research) In May 1519, Spaniard Hernan Cortes arrived at Veracruz to take over the Aztecs. Everyone believed he was the god Quetzalcoatl, so they invited him to Tenochtitlan. He formed many allies on the way to the city. In 1521, he and his army attacked the city and conquered the Aztecs.

    Spain ruling Mexico

    (From Video) In 1572, Spain had completely took over mexico. Mexico didn't have freedom because of Spain taking control of them. /Spain had took over Mexico for about 300 years!/
  • The war Mexico V.S. Spain

    (From video) In 1810, Mexico has had enough of not being independent. So Hildago decided to lead an army and took off from Dolores and went to Mexico City to gain independence. And so the war began, they had fought for a long time and /they won their first battle at Guanajuato./ They kept on fighting and the Spanish army was bigger than the Mexican army and some were afraid to go on. In 1811, Hildago and Allende were captured and killed. The army didn't give up. After 11 years, the war was over.

    (From Video) /In September 16th, 1821, Mexico finally had independence./ /September 16th is their most important day of the year!/ Everyone would shout Viva Mexico, some will dance, there's music, food, reenactments. /Also, on the afternoon of September 15th, the president of mexico will give the famous speech Hildago made, Grito de Dolores and ring the bell./ And after that there's fireworks. After mexico had gained their independence, everyone will remember Hildago.
