Augest 7, 1764 the king sent Rubi to inspect an area for spains army.As a result of his inspection Rubi that Spain reorganized its fronteir defenses along a coron of fifteen presidios,each about 100mi apart from the Gulf Of California to Texases Guadalupe river. -
Philip Nolan
Came to Texas 1790.Came over from Lousiana to capture mustangs.He spent alot of time macking maps.His last expidition he was killed in a fight with a spanish soilder near present day Waco,Texas.We can credit Nolan for getting americans intrest in Texas. -

Father Hidalgo
Was known as the father of independance.Led first revolt against spanish rule.He was the preist of Dolores.Made the famous speech witch started the rebellion against spanish rule.He was later captured and shot as a rebal July 31,1811. -
Jose Gutierrez De Lara
(1774-1841)
He was a blacksmith and merchant.During the mexican war him and his brother were succesfull in fomrnting revolution in Nuevo.After the Casas Revolt he was comprimised by rebbals. After the capture he refused to continue his mission in August, 1811. April 1812 he set out for texas. -
Augustus Magee
(1789-1813)
Was an army officer.Graduated 3rd in his millitary acadimy,January 23, 1809.Served for James Wilkinson in an artillary regiment.Magee resigned out of the army June 22, 1812 and began the Gutierrez-Magee Expidition.When he was travaling the Trinity River Megee got seriosly ill and stayed in command until his death Febuary 6, 1813. -
Battle of Meaina
Fought August 18,1813.The most bloodiest battle ever fought on Teaxs soil.It was about 20mi South of San Antonio. -
Jean Lafitte
They arrived in Galveston May,1817.He was notified by the president Monroe to leave Galveston becuase it is apart of the Louisana purchase.A huricane in 1835 merged together the island to present day Galveston.1818 indians attacked becuase they took women from their tribe.1821 the USS orded them to leave or they would burn the town down. -
Dr. James Long
(1789-1822)
James Long was the leader of the Long Expidition.He entered the united states army to serve as a surgen in the war of 1812. He joined a filibuster in 1819 to conquer Texas.1822 he was shot and killed by a guard that was hierd by Jose Felix. -
Maxacan constitution
The Goverment in Texas created the mexican Constitution in 1824.Cathlic rligion was changed to the the states religion. -

Congress passed the national colonization law Augest 18, 1824. -
Merger of Coahuila y Texas
They combined the two states for more land for farming and ranching.Americans were able to settle with the Mexicans but the Mexicans got first choice of land.There was an army placed to stop ilrgal imegrants enter Texas and Coahuila. -
State Constitution
The constitution was puplished March 11,1827.More than 2 years was spent forming the constitutin.The constitution divided the states into 3 departments.

2)Citezens are granted liberty
3)Slavery was forbided after promulgation of the constitution.
