March 4 1845 The start of the Mexican war April 1846. It was the Americans against Mexicans. The war started over where Texas ended.

May 8 1846 Battle of pal alto was the first battle fought in the war. After Mexican troops retreat, Taylor declares his army victorious.

Summer 1846 Thousands of American volunteers were authorized by Congress for twelve-month military service and arrived in the lower Rio Grande Valley shortly thereafter. “Most Americans supported the war. Approximately 75,000 men enlisted in volunteer regiments raised by the various states. Thousands more enlisted in the regular U.S. Army. There was no need for a draft. In some places, so many men flocked to recruiting stations that large numbers had to be turned away.”

August 14, 1846 U.S. Colonel Stephen Watts Kearney, whose rode with troops into its capital, Sante Fé, and finding it deserted, easily took possession.

Feb 22-3, 1847 Generals Taylor and Wool and their troops were outnumbered when they saw General Santa Anna and troops. But they still won. that earned General Taylor much attention and respect.

April 19-20, 1847 General Winfield Scott and his outnumbered troops fight through Santa Anna’s army and have an open path to Mexico City.

Feb 2 1848 Mexico and america signed the treaty of Guadalupe homicidal. It was accepted by the USA. It was also accepted by the Mexican congress on may 25th.
