    The battle of Palo Alto was the first big battle of the mexican american war. It was said to be 5 miles from the city of Brownville, Texas.

    Battle of Resaca de la Palma
    The very next day General Arista tried again. He tried to plan an ambush in a place with vegetation. It worked for the mexicans but still they didn't hold. The Mexicans retreated to the city of Monterrey, Arista was dismissed and removed as a commander.

    Battle of Monterrey
    General Taylor continued to Mexico in the north. The Mexican general, Pedro de Ampudia heavily guarded the city of Monterrey. General Zachary Taylor divided his army and told to attack from the two sides at once. Taylor overcame them one at a time. They surrendered 3 days later.

    Battle of Buena Vista
    Taylor then pushed southwards to a bit south of a city named Saltillo. His troops were being reassigned to another invasion. Mexican General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna decided on a plan that would weaken Taylor's troops instead of making it a new threat. The Mexicans almost won.

    The Siege of Veracruz
    A second front was opened from the U.S. and marched towards Mexico city in hope to end it quickly. General Winfield Scott landed on the altantic coast and let off lots of rounds and on March 29th they surrendered.

    Battle of Cerro Gordo
    Santa Anna regrouped after Buena Vista and with thousands he was determined they could invade the coast with the Americans but on his way Santa anna ignored that his left side of where he was hiding was vulnerable and General Scott took him down there, Santa Anna was almost killed and he retreated to Mexico City.

    Battle of Contreras
    General Scott made his way towards Mexico City. Defenses were set around the city itself. He decided to attack from the southwest of town and Mexican General Gabriel Valencia let himself exposed and they crushed thrm and lead victory.

    Battle of Churubusco
    With General Valencia's army defeated, Winfield Scott turned to the city gate of Churubusco. It was defended by a fortified convent near by. The Mexicans put up a defense but they had to surrender from loss of ammunition. The United States were in position to theaten Mexico City.

    Battle of Molino Del Ray
    Winfield Scott's army decided to break down two armies of his and continued on with offensive operations and deciding to attack a heavily fortified postion at Molino Del Ray from the mexicans. General Worth went forth and took control of a old mill and came up with a good plan. The Mexicans fought hard but were overrun.

    Battle of Chapultepec
    This battle was the major last battle of the war and it was between the heart of Mexico City. The fortress was on a hill called Chapultepec. The Mexicans fought so hard to defend it but it was no good. The Americans finished them and went onto Mexico city to sign the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.
