The Republic of California declares independence from Mexico. This is important because it shows that Texas isn’t the only state to declare independence from Mexico. This also shows that most likely the state will also become part of the United States.

Gold was discovered in California just 9 days after the Treaty or Guadalupe Hidalgo was signed. This is important because this will cause a shift in population due to the amount of people rushing in to find gold. This was also a huge loss for Mexico on top of losing the war.

This treaty was the confirmation of the war ending. Mexico had to give up it's northern land to the U.S. This also "secured" the rights of the Mexican-Americans living in now United States. This was an important event because although it was the end of a war, it was only the beginning of more conflicts.
