The civil war in china at this time was between the nationalists and the communists. The nationalist had an advantage, and they were more southern china. The communists ended up forcing 600000 nationalist troops to Taiwan. -

China's First Five-Year Plan was its transition to socialism(1953-57). Three things Mao wanted were industrialization, collectivization of agriculture, and political centralization
