  • Andrew Jackson

    Andrew Jackson was a very wealthy man as an adult. In 1812 a war broke out that was between United States and Britain.He became a very popular person for being a good hero for war during the 1820’s and 1830's. In 1824, he lost his chance to become president against John Quincy Adams. With this happening he came back four years later and tried again and defeated Adams and he then became the seventh president. He was also known for relocating the Native American tribes to the east of Mississippi.

    Brigham Young
    Brigham Young was first introduced with Joseph Smith in 1844. from this meeting he soon became the leader for the Mormons. In 1856 - 1852, he directed 16,000 Mormons from Illinois to Utah. Also, between this time he became the governor. During his education, Young made a plan for national expansion of telegraph and railroad lines. In 1852-1877 Young also helped eighty thousand converts to move to Utah from Great Britain, Scandinavia, and continental Europe. In 1851, when Utah became a territory

    During the Texas war for independence of Mexico, two-hundred men, led by James Bowie (who died of an illness) and William Travis (who died of a gunshot wound) also including the famous Davy Crockett (who died in the war). February 23, 1836, thousands of Mexican troops led by General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna marched to the fort.     In (1846-1848) the U.S. discovered its first argument which started the Mexican-American War. This caused people to split apart and caught the Mexicans military off guard. James K. Polk believed that the United States had a “manifest destiny”, and that it would spread all over.

    Donner Party
    In 1846, about 90 people left Springfield, Illinois, and went west. Brothers Jacob and George Donner attempted to lead the people into a shorter route. With this rout they discovered many problems like mountains and heavy snowfall. During the snowfall in Sierra Nevada, they lost a lot of food which would cause people dying. When they reached California it turned out that only half of them made it and there was a story that quickly spread about cannibalism happening since they lost so much food.
