Louisiana Purchase
The Louisiana Purchase doubled the size of the United states overnight. The corps of discovery was created by president Jefferson. There goal was to find The Northwest passage, a waterway that went from the Missisipi river to the pacific ocean that ships could travel on. The best part about the The Louisiana purchase was that we got it for a very cheap price. we got it for only 4 cents an acre. The Louisiana Purchase was a big step to fulfilling Manifest destiny of America. -
Corps of Discovery
The Corps of discovery expedition was very successful expedition into uncharted territory. Over the 2 year long expedition they described 308 species new to the scientific world. However, without a native american women name Sacagawea they would have gotten lost starved and lost valuable information on there journey. Some may say that the expedition was unsucessful because they didnt find the northwest passage. However, they were still successful in the other parts in there mission. -
War of 1812
Have you heard of the forgotten war? That’s what I thought it’s also called the war of 1812. Some other names of the war was the war of Bad Communication. That is because before the war started Britian repealed the reasins for the war. Also the largest battle was the Battle of New Orleans. However, the battle occured after the treaty that stopped the war had been signed. The war also ended in a Stalemate. That means no one lost or won anything from the war. That is why it is called the Forgotten -
Flordia is stollen from Spain.
Did you know we stole Florida from Spain? General Jackson was sent into flordia to stop Seminole Native americans from freeing slaves in the south. while he was there he took over military forts in the spanish territory. The Adams-Onis Treaty was then signed giving america the Floridia Territory for $5 Million. That is how america acquired Flordia by stealing it from Spain. -
Monroe Doctrine
You shall not pass! That was the main purpose established in the Monroe Doctrine. It stated that America will not get involved in European affairs. The Doctrine also said that the Western Hemisphere off limits to further colonization. And warned that if European powers tried controlling or interfering western countries it would be seen as a hostile act. The Monroe doctrineput the Western hemisphere off limits to further colonization. -
Indian Removal
The darkest part in American history was during the Indian removal act. the five most well known tribes impacted where the Creek, Seminole, Choctaw, Cherokee, Chickasaw Native american tribes. They all got relocated into sections of modern day Oklahoma. However the Seminole tribe fought back resulting in the 3 Seminole wars. they fought against it and his in Flordias Swamps. The darkest part in American history is the removal of the Native Americans from their homelands. -
Texas Is added to the Union
Did you know Texas was its own independent country? Texas had a revolution against Mexico because they didn’t like there laws and forced Mexico's president to sign there independence at gunpoint. at first Texas was not allowed in the union because the free state and slave state ballance would become undone. However, it was Added to union James K Polk added it when he came to office in 1845. so that means For 9 years Texas was its own independent country before being added to the United States. -
Oregon Territory
54 40 or FIGHT! That was James K Polk’s election motto when he ran for president of the United States of America president. Both America and Britian had claim on the Oregon Territory. After James K Polk became president he chompromized with britian to the 49 degree line. so instead of fighting America and Britain were able to compromise the land claim without any fighting or wars. -
Treaty of Guadlupe Hidalgo
The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo ended the Mexican American war and fulfilled manifest Destiny. Mexico and America both fought over the American Mexican Border. this started the Mexican American war. on Feburary 2, 1848 the Treaty of Guadlupe Hidalgo set the border to the Rio Grande River. This was signed by president James K Polk also known as Mr. Manifest Destiny who aqcuired the most land then any other United States President and fulfiled Manifest Destiny
