    The Industrial Revolution

    The Industrial Revolution was the transition to new manufacturing processes in the period from about 1760 to 1840. This transition included going from hand production methods to machines, new chemical manufacturing and iron production processes, improved efficiency of water power, the increasing use of steam power and the development of machine tools. It also included the change from wood and other bio-fuels to coal. It began in Great Britain and within a few decades had spread to Western Europe

    The American Revolution (1775-1783)

    The American Revolution (1775-83). The conflict arose from growing tensions between residents of Great Britain's 13 North American colonies and the colonial government, which represented the British crown. Skirmishes between British troops and colonial militiamen in Lexington and Concord in April 1775 kicked off the armed conflict, and by the following summer, the rebels were waging a full-scale war for their independence. It ended with the Treaty of Paris.
  • The First FleetLand in Sydney Cove

    The Fleet Consists of 11 ships that left Great Britain to settle a penal conoly in Sydney Cove. It was captained by James Arthur Phillips. The 11 ships landed on the 26th of January, 1788

    The French Revolution (1789-17990

    The French Revolution began in 1789 and ended in the late 1790s with the ascent of Napoleon Bonaparte. During this period, French citizens razed and redesigned their country’s political landscape, uprooting centuries-old institutions such as absolute monarchy and the feudal system. During the revolution the Guillotie was created to execute the peopl eagainst the revolution.
  • The Gold Rush

    Gold was first discovered in 1823 (near Bathurst) by James McBrien. Ophir was home to more than 1000 prospectors just four months after Hargraves discovery. Australia attracted adventurers from all around the world. The majority of these new arrivals were British but also included Americans, French, Italian, German, Polish and Hungarian exiles.The largest foreign contingent on the goldfields was the 40,000 Chinese who made their way to Australia.
  • Federation Day

    Australia officially becomes separated from Britain. A constitution was signed by the King.
  • Australia enters WW1

    The ANZACS enter the War by landing in Gallipoli
