    Description: A battle where Colonel James Abram Garfield forced Brigadier General Humphrey Marshall to retreat back into Virginia. When Garfield got to the battle Marshall had already had his men lined up west and south of the creek. the battle went on untill Union reinforcements arrived to dissuade the Confederates from assailing the Federal left.     The Battle of Pea Ridge

    Description: Major General Van Dorn divided his men into two columns. On March 7th the Federals' met with General Dorn first columns and attacked. With this attack they killed two generals, Brig. General Ben McCulloch and Brig. General James McQueen McIntosh. Van Dorn then sent his second column and the Federals' forced them back. People: Major General Samuel R.     Description: A battle between Brig. General William B. Franklin and Major General Gustavius W. Smith. When General Franklin and his men landed on Eltham's Landing they were met with two brigades of General Smith’s command attacking.     Description: General Morgan approached the Union and held the Rebels until his brigade was ready. Moore's men ran which caused confusion and helped to force the Federals to fall back.     Description: A battle between Col. Albert S. Hall and Brig. General John Hunt Morgan. General Morgan struck both of the Union flanks.   • The Battle of Cape Girardeau

    Description: A battle between Brig. General John McNeil and Brig. General John S. Marmaduke. General Marmaduke had ordered one of his brigades to make a demonstration to ascertain the Federals’ strength. But Col. John S. Shelby’s brigade made the demonstration instead which caused the attack. Marmaduke withdrew his division to Jackson after the Federals showed thier strengths. People: Brig. General John S.     The Battle of Chancellorsville

    Description: A battle that was fought between Major General Joseph Hooker's army and General Robert E. Lee's confederate army. Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson settled on a plan that would get Jackson forces around the Union onto the open flank. jackson got wounded by one of his own men. Hooker withdrew a mile and entrenched in a defensive “U” with his back to the river at United States Ford. People:Major General Joseph Hooker, General Robert E. Lee Outcome: Confederate Victory

    Description: Munford and Robertson attacked Rhode Island Regiment on June 17th with their brigades. On June 19, General Gregg’s drove Stuart’s cavalry one mile out of town. Both sides were reinforced. People: Munford, Robertson, David Gregg, J.E.B. Stuart Outcome: Inconclusive

    The Battle of Gettysburg

    Description: Union army Major General George Gordon Meade defeated attacks by Confederate General Robert E. Lee. Lee enveloped to the federals by stricking the union left flank first and then their left flank. But by July 4th Lee had begun withdrawin his army because his train of wounded men stretched more then fourteen miles. People: Union army Major General George Gordon Meade, Confederate General Robert E. Lee. Lee Outcome: Lee withdrawed his army this battle became a Union Victory.

    The Battle of Chickamauga

    Description: A battle that was fought between Major General William Rosecrans and General Braxton Bragg. In early September, Rosecrans forces forced Bragg’s army out of Chattanooga. On the 18th Bragg marched north with his calvary and fought with the Union calvary. Bragg men put a gap in the Union line so Rosecrans and his men left the battle field.

    Description: As the Union cavalry got close to the crossroads they seen that the Confederates had already arived the day before. The Union cavalry could not take on the Confederate cavalry so was forced to back down. People: Brig. General Samuel D. Sturgis, Lt. General James

  • The Battle of Little Blue River

    Description: General Curtis ordered General Blunt to take all the volunteer troops to Little blue River. When Blunt got near the stream he noticed that the confederates had burned the bridge. Blunt tried to drive the enemy back beyond their defensive line but that only lasted for a little time. People: General James Blunt, Major General Samuel R. Curtis, Major General Sterling Price Outcome: Confederate Victory
