    Captain Cooks Arrival
    On the 29 of April 1770 Captain Cook arrived in Australia and claimed it his land. The part where he saild to was called Botany Bay. Captain Cook arrived in Australia on a Bay and called it Stingray Bay but then boatanists found new plants and called it Botany Bay.

    Lieutenant Bowen settled at Risdon, Tasmania
    Lieutenant Bowen settled at Sullivans Cove and became Hobart. 1803
    A penal settlement was established in Moreton Bay, Queensland. 1824
    Captain James Stirling arrived at the Swan River, Western Australia. 1829
    John Batman found Port Phillip,Victoria. 1835

    THE FIRST FLEET, BOTANY BAY
    Captain Arthur Phillip arrived in Australia in 1788 with convicts. England had a lot of convicts so Captain Arthur Phillip sailed the world and found NSW, Australia and put all the convicts there. The convicts came because they had broken a law moslty stealing. England was filled with convicts so they just took the land and claimed it without asking anyone not even the Aboriginals who were living there for thousands of years. The Aboriginals will never forgive them because that was their land.

    The Aborigionals were very angry about how the English took and claimed their land. The Aborigionals made weapons to make the English leave but the English were too strong and called it the White Mans Land. The Aboriginals fought and fought but couldn't defeat the English Soilders.

    The Aborigines of Sydney region were seen to be dying in large numbers because of the disease called Smallpox. This affected the Aboriginals badly and lots of people died. Smallpox cut down the population of the Aboriginal people. Smallpox is a very serious illness caused by a virus called the Variola. Many Aboriginals struggled to find ways to battle with Smallpox. 300 million people died from Smallpox and many other peoples lifes were change by the effect of Smallpox.

    Australia became a popular place for settlers and convicts. With the discovery of gold in 1851 people began coming to Australia for gold. The Australian gold rush days brought Immigrants from all over the world to Australia from countries, like England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, America, China and Germany. The first Gold Rush Australia had was in May 1851.
    The Australian Gold Rush caused a huge influex of people from overseas. Australia's total population was more than 430,000 to 1.7m.

    Australia’s involvement in the first world war first started when Britain and Germany went to war on the 4 of August 1914. In WW1 the countries that were part of the Allies were Britain, France, Russia, Italy and the United States were against the Axis which were Germany, Austria, Hungary,Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria. The war went for 4 years that ended in 1918.
