Louis William Tomlinson was born on December 24, 1991, in the town of Doncaster in South Yorkshire, England. -
School
Louis was a sixth form student at Hall Cross School. He failed his first year of A levels at the Hayfield School and ended up going back to Hall Cross to start A levels again. -
Acting
Louis, along with two of his siblings, had extra roles in Fat Friends. After this, he attended an acting school in Barnsley. At Hall Cross, he appeared in lots of musical productions. -
The X Factor
Louis auditioned for singing competition The X Factor. He failed to progress to the "Boys" category at judges' houses but, after a suggestion from one of the judges, he was put together with Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Harry Styles, qualifying for the "Groups" category. -
One Direction
One Direction lost the competition, remaining in third place. However, the boys signed a contract with Sony and started to work on their debut album, 'Up all night', which was released on 2011. They released their second album, 'Take Me Home' on 2012. The band's third album, 'Midnight Memories', was released on 2013. Their fourth album, 'Four', was released on 2014. The group revealed they would be going on hiatus after the release of their fifth album, 'Made in the A.M.', in 2015. -
Louis' mom
Johanna, Louis' mom, passed way in 2016. She had leukemia. -
Just hold on
Louis released "Just Hold On", a collaboration with the American DJ Steve Aoki on 2016.Tomlinson and Aoki performed the song live for the first time on The X Factor season finale on the day of its release. Louis dedicated the song and performance to his late mother. -
Back to you
In 2017, Tomlinson released the single "Back to You" featuring Bebe Rexha and Digital Farm Animals. The song peaked at number 8 on the UK Singles Chart and number 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. -
Just like you
In 2017, he released a promotional single "Just Like You" which peaked at 99 on UK Official Charts. -
Miss you
Louis released his second solo single "Miss You" in 2017 which peaked at 39 on the UK Charts. -
The X Factor, but now as a judge.
On July 2018, it was announced that he would judge alongside Simon Cowell, Robbie Williams, and Ayda Field on The X Factor. Louis mentored the "Boys" category, and chose Dalton Harris, Armstrong Martins, Brendan Murray, and Anthony Russell to go through to the live shows. Tomlinson became the show's first contestant to secure a victory as the winning mentor during the final when Dalton won the show. -
Two of us
Louis released 'Two of us ' in March, 2019. This is a ballad dedicated to his mother. He wanted that anyone who has went through a lost, feels hope.
