Muhammad was born in 570 in Mecca in Western Arabia. He was born to Abd Allah bin Al-Muttalib and Amina bint Wahb. His father died before he was born.

Amina, Muhammad's mother, died when he was 5 or 6. He was then raised by his grandfather Abdul Al-Muttalib. His grandfather was a respected leader. His grandfather died in 578 and he was taken care of by his uncle Abu Taleb.
