Muhammad is born

Muhammad was born in 570 in Mecca in Western Arabia. He was born to Abd Allah bin Al-Muttalib and Amina bint Wahb. His father died before he was born.

Early Life

Amina, Muhammad's mother, died when he was 5 or 6. He was then raised by his grandfather Abdul Al-Muttalib. His grandfather was a respected leader. His grandfather died in 578 and he was taken care of by his uncle Abu Taleb.

Jobs

When he was a teenager, Muhammad was a shepherd. He sometimes traveled with Abu Talib to trade center. In his 20s, he started working for Khadija bent Khawalayd, a Meccan merchant. He carried goods.

Marriage

Khadija and Muhammad got married and had six children, two of which died in infancy.

First Revelation

Muhammad retreated to mountain caves where he fasted and meditated. He had visionary experiences and he said that he experienced God. He was afraid to talk about it after

Making his Message Public

Muhammad began to share his messaged with his tribe. He started writing the Qur'an. He was persecuted and attacked. Leaders of Mecca tried to assassinate Muhammad because he went against their teachings

Emigration to Medina

Muhammad and his followers left Mecca to go to Medina. He was invited there to act as a mediator in their civil war.

Military

The Muslims participated in 3 major battles. They won 1, lost 1, and signed a treaty after the third. The treaty gave them the freedom to move through Arabia.

Taking over Mecca

The Muslims entered Mecca and overtook it. Mecca joined them.

Death

He returned to Mecca is 632 to perform a pilgrimage. He died on June 8, 632. H was buried in Medina.
