The Quraysh tribe controlled Mecca and tried but failed to stop the spread of Islam so they eventually banished Muhammad and the muslims who then moved to Madinah. -

Night Journey
During this journey Muhammad was flown on the back of a beast to Jerusalem and then into heaven. This is when muslims were instructed by Allah to pray five times per day. -
