He was born circa 770 in the city of Mecca. He was orphaned early on and was taken care of by his uncle.

Muhammad was involved in re-setting the Black Stone into the Kabba. It was removed to renovate the Kaaba, and the leaders at the time fought over who would get the right to place the Stone back in - Muhammad was chosen (at random, supposedly) to decide, and he satisfied all by having them together bring it to the Kaaba, and he placed it in himself.

On Jabaal an Nur, the " Mountain of Light", the Angel Gabriel supposedly appeared to Muhammad and declared him a Prophet of Allah, beginning his prophethood.
