When the first fleet landed, Australia was divided into two boundaries. the first boundary was New South Wales and the second Boundary was New Holland

In 1825, the colonies decided to make NSW bigger so an island called 'Melville island'. Also, the prisoners who committed crime in Australia were moved to Van Diemans land (TAS).

The British settlement decided to change the name of New Holland to Western Australia.

Not long after New Holland was renamed, the colonies thought of adding another boundary. So, a little bit of New South Wales was used to for the new boundary. The colonies called the new boundary South Australia.

the European settlement slowly formed a new boundary over the 1820s, 1830s and 1840s. Eventually, in 1847, North Australia was created. Its main settlement was in Port Curtis. Unfortunately, the settlement failed after 6 months and North Australia disappeared.

Parts of the Port Phillip district of New South Wales had been settled at the bottom of it by escaped convicts, whalers and sealers. There had been an official settlement in 1802 just to warn off the french but that settlement had been abandoned. Some people from Van Dieman's land (TAS) sent sheep over. The area soon turned into the colony Victoria.

In 1824, Queensland was created with just a convict settlement. In 1859, South Australia was moved up North. Also, Van Dieman's island was changed to Tasmania.

South Australia panhandled New South Wales and was moved west until the edge of the boundary was next Western Australia.

1 year later, Queensland was moved west and South Australia was moved up north.
