    came to the throne because his older brother died. Married Catherine of Aragon, his brother’s wife, then divorced her. Angry the Pope wouldn’t let him divorce her, so made a new church, ‘Anglican’ and broke with the Catholic Church. Had 6 wives.

    daughter of Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon. Married Phillip II of Spain, who was a strong catholic, wanted to make England catholic again.
