    This was the beginning of the Australian force joining together with the force of each others navy and a joined parliament.
  • The Recommendation

    The NSW has recommended having a assembly for all of the colony's. William Charles Wentworth chaired this meeting with his great leadership over the group, this assembly delt with the problems through Australia such as the tariffs, railways, gold, licences and lighthouses. NSW accepted this comity but Tas and SA didn't want help which made it hard for this to run and help solve problems through the country. It was impossible for the government to accept them.
  • The Agreement

    Service and Mcllwraith joined forces to start a campaign for the federal union. They used the issues such as New Guinea and the French threat to persuade NSW to hold a inter colonial convention in Sydney. Samuel Griffith had a big part in the agreement to form the federal council.
  • Sir Henry Parks in Tenderfield

    Sir Henry Parks, The Father of Federation makes a speech in Tenterfield about his beliefs on the topic of federation and that there should be a change in the way that Australia is working, he wanted it to be a nation that could join together instead of 6 small states working apart for them to all form one country called Australia. At the end of his speech the colonies decided to try a informal test of federation. He was also prepared to cooperate on behalf of NSW.

    Parks said to an invite that he wanted to have a toast to a united country that's proud name is Australia and the united Australasia for the common British heritage. There were 13 representatives of all the colonial governments and the acknowledged the population, wealth, and self-governing capacity. At the end of the meeting they agreed to consider a federal constitution.
  • AFL in Melbourn

    The AFL (Australian Federation League) from Victoria arrange to have a meeting about federation in Melbourne town hall to form a AFL for South Australian and New South Wales. This meeting was organized by the premiers of Victoria.

  • Edmond Barton The first Prime Minister

    In 1901 Edmond Barton became the first prime minister for Australia as a full country with the navy and constituting formed you can see that this is one of the most important events in the history of Federation because it is when Australia became united.
  • The first Federal Parliament

    The Duke of York opened the very first federal parliament for Australia as a united country, this was made in Melbourne and all of the meetings happened here until the year 1927. Most of the headquarters for the Parliament were also made regarding the specific jobs that people would need to do to help the parliament. In 1901 there where 8 departments.

    On this historic day the first elections were held, as a result of this all people above the age of 18 had the right to vote in all states even woman and Aboriginal Australians had the rights for a say in the FIRST president of Australia as a federal country.

    This was a big step in Australia joining together and becoming a nation that is welcoming and able to trade. On this day the new flag was raised for the first time in Melbourne, and there was a measured 32,823 entries for the design of the new flag of the united country.
