  • Jay Treaty

    Treaty between America and Great Britain that stopped a war from happening.
  • Washington's farewell address

    George Washington wrote it as a valedictory to friends and fellow citizens" after 20 years of public service to the United States. He wrote it near the end of his second term of presidency before retiring to his home at Mount Vernon in Virginia.

    The Embargo Act of 1807 was a general trade embargo on all foreign nations that was enacted by the United States Congress.

    The Chesapeake–Leopard affair was a naval engagement off the coast of Norfolk, Virginia, on June 22, 1807, between the British fourth-rate HMS Leopard and the American frigate USS Chesapeake.
