    Virginia's Deceleration of rights
    This was a document started by the principal author George Mason for a want of inherent rights of men and the abolishment of the inadequate government in Virginia. It influenced the creation of the Declaration of Independence in 1777 and other works to support the need for human rights and a just government
  • Ratification of articles of confederation

    Ratification of articles of confederation
    The ratification of the articles of confederation in Philadelphia was started for their transition from colonies under british rule to states that could govern themselves. In total the confederation had many problems that lead to the need of a new authority over the states which came in the ratification of the constitution. The articles conclude that the rule of just the states wasn't enough to have a successful government.

    After the revolutionary war between the colonies and Great Britain they both agreed to end their fighting and make a negotiation for both ends to recognize Americas independence as a sovereign country. Important people who was involved in the ratification of the treaty was John Jay, John Adams and Benjamin Franklin. As to move past the challenges of the war and their relationship the treaty was needed as to seal off any potential problems between the countries.

    Continued from Washingtons declaration of neutrality and Jays treaty,France and America had a standing opposition between each other. This moved into the problem of when the French taking American ships harming its shipping of products. John Adams sent three representatives to France for negotiations. The French tried to settle them with bribes but insulted America instead. They'd rather have war.

    Land ordinance of the Americas which was proposed by Thomas Jefferson of Virginia was a plan to separate the farming land of the undeveloped west. Congress didn't have the power to collect revenue from direct taxes so this plan set up a way for there to be revenue on the sales of the land and a land survey system for about 3/4th of the U.S. Since there was the division of land it has lead to a way of having public education and more land for others

    A heavy advocate for religious freedom Thomas Jefferson made the bill for this now for Virginia during his term as president. Also because Jefferson believed that religious freedom was one of the necessities for the country as it moved for forward placing this bill with the amendments in the constitution and other important clauses the states follow.

    Named by the guy who mostly organized the many revolts (Daniel Shay) with farmers in Massachusetts we're started because of the collection of state taxes and judgments of debts. It didn't become to much of a problem though some did take up arms but it caught the attention of politicians that the state couldn't keep in control some upset farmers they shouldn't have all the power. This led to discussions of revising or replacing the Articles of Confederation

    This convention was put together from the months of may to September in Philadelphia,Pennsylvania to create a better government rather then fix the existing one. Orchestrated chiefly by Alexander Hamilton and James Madison.

    Northwest Ordinance of 1787
    The Northwest Ordinance was the first organized territory of America. From beyond the Appalachian mountains between British North America and the Great Lakes to the north and the Ohio River to the south. It was made in responses to troubling relations with Indians and the non separation of the Great Britain and Spanish territory. This Ordinance needed a strong central government which it did not have under the Articles of Confederation until the ratification of the Constitution.

    George Washington took oath in New York City and become the first president of the United States after the ratification of the constitution. By making this oath Washington would be setting the beginning of the republican government, the first four year term.

Washington declared neutrality because of how new their country was and it didn't need to be exposed to such a harsh situation as war. Not helping out the French lead to a quasi war in 1798 then a negotiation with Napoleon and Jefferson

    Whiskey rebellion
    The whiskey rebellion began because of the tax on whiskey during Washingtons presidency. To start reducing the national debt the this tax on domestic products were put in place for Alexander Hamiltons financial plan. Those who opposed were either farmers or war veterans in western Pennsylvania. At the end the rebellion showed how the national government can control the violent acts that occurred.

    The jay treaty was signed in London and was made to prevent the revolutionary war during the problems between Great Britain and the United States. It was proposed by Alexander Hamilton and George Washington and chiefly negotiated by John Jay. It holds significance as it furthered Hamiltons fight for undercutting republicanism and promoting aristocracy.

    This treaty was made between America and the Indians to terminate the Indian war in the Great Lake region. After the Indians latest defeat during the war with the commander of the American army Anthony Wayne had to comply with peace. The Indians gave up all the land starting from the south and east part of Lake Erie. They gave up all their land but still infringed on the treaty and violence broke out but the settlers out numbered the Indians and the rest of their land.

    A great negotiation on George Washington's part for being able to have the Pickney Treaty be signed for good relations with Spain. In SAN Lorenzo,Madrid,Spain the treaty was signed which brought an expanding,diplomatic and trading victory for America. Since Americas alliance with Great Britain was growing Spain wanted to get in the middle and have America as well.

    When it was time for Washington to retire from presidency he made a farewell address to remind the people of America what they should and shouldn't do as a still young country. A guide for the future. Staying neutral when other countries are at war, stressing patriotism was were his final words of advice. Washington hoped that leaving the states this address would lead them to a prosperous future.

    After Washington didn't take the third term his Vice President John Adams became a candidate for the spot along with Thomas Jefferson and Aaron burr in the next president election. At the end Adams won the election with Jefferson in second place being voted the Vice President of John Adams. This started the First Party System and rivalry between the Federalists and the Democratic Republican.

    The Quasi war was an undeclared war between France and America because of the events of the XYZ Affair. John Adams securing and arming massive warships for the war. Hostilities still remained between the two until a treaty was made with napoleons when Thomas Jefferson took office. In the end the war established and strengthened a naval army,secured a victory for the federalists and made a separation between military,executive and legislative branches.

    Alien and Sedition Acts
    The alien and sedition acts were four bills signed by president John Adams and passed by the federalists in the states for the prevailing war with France.They made it harder for immigrants to become a citizens and vote in America. Federalist thought of foreigners as a threat to the American security as well as there could be no opposition to the government.Trying to suppress republican opposition on the basis of ideological differences they caused a limitation of rights for everyone.

    Virginia and Kentucky Resolutions
    The Virginia and Kentucky resolutions declares that the alien and sedition act were unconstitutional. Written secretly by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison argued states rights and strict constructionists.This brought about the argument of checking the constitutionality of laws."If the federal government assumed such powers, its acts could be declared unconstitutional by the states. So, states could decide the constitutionality of laws passed by Congress."
  • Election 1800

    The next president election in 1800 was between Jefferson and Adams. Jefferson beat Adams in the race realigning the party system to democratic-republican and ending the federalists party. The election also brought out flaws of the constitution such as mishandling the two voting of president which was fixed with the twelfth amendment.
