    This law is basically saying that you have to reurn anyway run away slaves that you see. And if you interfere with that process, you can and will be persecuted by the law. One of the most co ntroversal laws passed at this time.

    This book was written by a white girl, about the hardships of slavery. Some think it was a major factor on starting the civil war.But it was extremely controversial.
  • Kansas-Nebraska Act

    This was the first introduction of popular soverignty in America. They decided that their way to decide the slavery debate, was to leave it to the people. They could vote and decide what they wanted

    Dred Scott was a slave who was taken into the northern states with his owner. He sued his owner saying that he is free because the northen states were a free state. The trial stated that Dred was still a slave, which enraged a lot of anti-slavery people.

    South Carolina decided to seceed from The Union. They were unhappy with Lincoln being elected president, and wanted nothing to do with him and his anti slavery message and campaign. So they decided to leave. They started a revolution of souther states seceeding. Which led to the Civil War.
