    A series of bills that made balanced the issues with free states and slave states. California was made a free state, Slave trade was ended in the District of Columbia but not slavery, Texas received money for claiming the lands west of Rio Grande which is now New Mexico, The territory of New Mexico didn't prohibit slavery, and the Fugitive Slave Law was passed which required people to return runaway slaves no matter what state they're in and that outraged many people.

    An African Slave who tried to sue for his freedom but ended up a failure. He said that he lived with his master in a state where slavery is illegal but since he was a slave in a slave state, he couldn't be set free because he was temporarily in a slave free state and that didn't change anything.

    An election with four people which was Abraham Lincoln, John Bell, John Breckinridge, and Douglas. The Southerners wanted the slave codes to be preserved and the Northeners wanted to contain the slave issue.
