  • The Founding of Virginia

    The Founding of Virginia
    Virginia was named after the recently dead queen Virginia. The settlers in Virginia were looking for gold, and other raw materials. English criminals were sent over to Virginia to work ass a punishment. There were high mortality rates due too, the James river being poisoned from the salty water, in the summer it became a breeding ground for dysentery, and typhoid. Which left many settlers too weak to plant crops. The following spring only 38 settlers were still living.
  • William Shakespeare dies

    William Shakespeare died April 23rd 1616, he is buried at the Holy Trinity Church. William Shakespeare is a famous for writing numerous plays. His death is unknown, but many people thinks it was from a fever after drinking binge with a few of his play writing buddies.
  • First Anglo Powhatan War

    After the Chief Powhatan died, his brother Opechancanough, decided it was time to get rid of the Englishmen. The Indians executed a well planned out attack. The Indians attacked most of the plantations on the James River. Killing about a quarter of the colonist. There were two more wars by the Powhatan andthe colonist, After the third attack Opechancanough was killed.

    Their were three Anglo-Dutch wars the first war started in 1653, and the last war ended in 1674. The first Anglo-Dutch war was a only at sea. The English had an advantage to this war, because they could attacking a vulnerable trade route. By April of 1654 the English Navy captured over 1000 merchant ships.

    on October 26th, 1707 mount Fuji had an 8.4 magnitude earthquake devastating Honshu island. The Eruption started on December 16th 1707, on the first day of the eruption 72 houses, and three Buddhist were destroyed. The ashes of the volcanic eruption could be found 280 Km from mount Fuji.

    John Quincy Adams was born n July 11, 1767, named after his his father and maternal grandfather. Born in Braintree Massachusetts, and into a family of politics. Seven year old John Quincy Adams so the brutal battle at Bunker Hill, on a hill top behind his house. "Took seven year old John Quincy to a hilltop behind their home in Braintree, where they watched a battle unfold across the bay" (Oakes 14).

    Joseph Priestly was born in Yorkshire, his mom died when he was young. he taught himself Latin, Greek, French, Italian, German. When he discovered oxygen he answered questions of why and how things burnt down.
  • The First Battle of The Revolutionary War

    General Gage had plans to seize the colonists military supplies in Concord. Bostonians tipped off a patriot leader once the British troops started to march. The night of April 18, Paul Revere, and William Dawes carried the message that the British were moving. British troops arrived at Lexington, and order the colonist to surrender, but they refused.British soldiers then lost control and starting firing at the colonist, the colonist returned fire. The British were forced back across the bridge.

    Thomas Paine is an ex-patriot from Philadelphia, and boosted the public's moral about the war with the pamphlet Common Sense. Common sense was written in January of 177, and sold 75,000 copies in a very short amount of time. In the pamphlet Thomas Paine talked about freeing the colonies from the British, and how they could start over with a new government.
  • John Quincy Adams sails to France

    John Adams, and John Quincy Adams set sail to France. They set on this journey to ask help from the French navy, in the Revolutionary War. John Quincy was only ten years old going on this trip. When they landed in France John Quincy would stay for ten years for education.

College life left John Quincy not knowing about shay's Rebellion he predicted it when he read the Articles of Confederation.

    Napoleon shocked American Agents when he wanted to not only sale New Orleans, but the whole Louisiana Territory. The United States bought the whole Territory for only 15 million dollars, that's roughly 3.5 cents an acre. Many Congressmen questioned whether the territory could be bought without a constitutional amendment. Many also questioned if out government could govern such a vast territory, or make citizens of its multiracial inhabitants.

    James Madison put up a Non-Intercourse Act policy to only Britain in the fall of 181. Which stopped the continental market to English goods, because of this it took a toll on the British economy. With British troops still attacking American ships, President Madison Requested to congress that we declare war with Great Britain. On June 4th the house passed the request, and on June 18 the senate passed the request.

    Napoleon was born in 1769, and became Emperor of France in 1804. Napoleon died in the spring of 1821. Many people believed that he died from stomach cancer. Many conspiracies were made up saying he was poisoned, but nothing was proven.

    The election of 1824 is also known as the "Corrupt Bargain" was a battle between Secretary of State John Quincy Adams, and the 1812 War hero Andrew Jackson. In the election No one had the majority of popular vote, or Electoral Collage vote. The vote went to the house of Rep, John Quincy got 13 out of the 24 votes, while Andrew Jackson Got 7 votes. Jackson accused John Adams of buying his vote from Clay by giving him the Secretary of State position.

President Jackson hated everything to do with the national ban, and abolished it. In 1830 Congress and Jackson signed an act to Exchange lands with the Indians living in any states, or territories. To move west of the Mississippi River. The treaty of New Echota Provided that in two years the Cherokees would leave in return of $5 million.

    the night of April 30, John Quincy Adams first son, George Washington Adams. Was on a ship heading to Washington from New York. That night George Adams was drinking heavily and demanded the ship to stop. After the captain refuses to stop the boat George Adams either jump, or fell in the river. Leaving only his hat and jacket on board, and did not leave a note. A couple weeks before his death the family maid who gave birth to his child was blackmailing him.

    While visiting his son Charles Francis in Boston, John Adams suffered his first stroke. "Rendered Speechless and confused, his right side paralyzed, he seemed close to death" (Ungers 306). He recovered his speech and his memory, by the time of December he was laughing off his illness, But he could not support himself to stand or walk on his own. February 7th, he held himself upright as he walked to both morning, and afternoon church service to receive communion.
