Comes to Power
When Ivan was just 3 years old, his father, Basil lll died. Ivan was the hier to the throne so he became the ruler of Russia. His mother would help him rule along with other boyars (nobles). -

Ivan Takes Control
After his mothers death, Ivan takes control of the boyars and gains his rightful rule. In the same year, he marries a woman, Anastasia. -
Period: Nov 18, 1549 to Nov 18, 1560
The "Good Period"
Ivan sent out armies to gain contol of independent territories in order to create a larger, more centralized Russia. He conquered Kazan, Astrakhan, and Siberia. This being the peak of his "Good Period". This lasted from 1549-1560 -

Anastasia Dies
Ivans wife, Anastasia, dies. He soon become depressed, beginning his reign of terror. -
Period: Feb 29, 1560 to
The Reign of Terror
Through this time period, Ivan creates a secret police dressed in black to murder traitors to his policies. He killed boyars and their families, together he has ended up killing thousands of people. He also chose new boyars to support him in every decission. -
Nov 19, 1581
Ivan gets angry
Ivan killed his son, hier to the throne, leaving his lesser, weaker son to rule. -
Death
Ivan dies, later his blood was inspected and it was found that there were high amounts of mercury, leading people to beleive that he might of been poisend.
