Muhammad's Revelation was when the archangel Gabriel spoke to Muhammad. This was ultimately when Islam was created, and this interaction was later written down into the Quran, considered the direct word of God.

The Hijra was when Muhammad, after being threatened, left Mecca with his followers and went to Medina. This was important because it allows Muhammad to form a more organized religion without fear of persecution. It is also year one on the Islamic calendar.

This marked the start of a new time for Islam, as it was now the dominating force in it's region and was spreading. Also, Muhammad spared his Meccan enemies, showing forgiveness and mercy, important values of Islam. He also destroyed all of the pagan idols in the Kabaa, again boosting Islam's image.

Uthman was the third caliph after Muhammad, and when he was assassinated it started the division between the Shi'ites and Sunnis as they fought over the succession.
