The Canadian Government and the Committee for Original Peoples' Entitlement(COPE), reached a land Claim Agreement-in-Principle.

Ten years of negotiations, coming into effect by June 25, 1984. Being the one of the First Comprehensive land claim agreements passed the 60th parallel north. The Inuvialuit Agreed to give up their ancestral lands in exchange for specific rights.
Their goal was to preserve Inuvialuit cultural, identity, and values within the changing society, as well as protect the Arctic wildlife, environment,and Biologically. -
The Inuvialuit had title to more than 90000 km^2 traditional Land and received 152 million dollars in capital from the Canadian Government. They were provided with wildlife harvesting, hunting Game animal rights, and exclusive right to harvest furbearers in the Region.
The Inuvialuit are the Inuit of the Western Canadian Arctic.
The Government of Canada and the Inuvialuit people were the only two involved in this agreement. -
