Chris meets Wayne in South Dakota, still going by Alex, who offers Chris a job.

Shortly after Chris donates twenty thousand dollars to OXFAM he heads west and abandons the car Arizona.

Chris then heads for Mexico, he succesfully crosses into Mexico but gets caught on his way back into the US.

Chris stops in Carthage before departing to Alaska, However, he gets stopped by Franz who only delays Chris' journey to Alaska. Franz treated Chris like a grandson, teaching him some tinkering tips.

Chris, tired from the road, gets a trailer and a job at a local McDonalds. May- December 1991

Chris leaves Franz and heads for San Diego, but later returns to Franz and Franz drives him as far as Colorado

His first 6 weeks in the bush he does fine with hunting and living off potatoes. However, he begins to starve and panic by leaving a not and later dies of starvation and his body is uncovered 19 days later from some hikers by coincidence.

After crossing a river on the trail he runs into a bus along the trail and finds out that it has been inhabited already
