Chris started his journey. He started from Enderlin, North Dakota to Fairbanks, Alaska.

He was last seen by Jim Gallien, a south central Alaskan electrician.

Chris killed a moose and was so proud of it that he took a picture of it. He spent days trying to preserve the meat. He didn't contain the meat correctly which lead to the meat being infested with vermin.

This was apparently the last day he wrote in his journal. It was titled "Beautiful Blueberries". He tore the final page of Louis L'Armour's memoir, Education of a Wandering Man.

His body was found in his sleeping bag, on the bus where he stayed in by a local hunter, Butch Killian. Chris had been dead for a couple of weeks prior to the finding of his body. His remains were weighed and his remains weighed around 66lbs. The official cause of death was starvation.
