The League of Nations was formed in response to the horrific slaughters of WWI. The headquarters was based in Geneva in Switzerland, because it was a neutral country in the war. The League of Nations was to prevent wars through collective security and settling international disputes through negotiation

At the end of WWI, the treaty of Versailles stated that Germany was to pay for the damages of the war in cash or other valuable goods of the equal value. However, Germany could not meet the deadline. The anti-German attitudes in France and Britain led them to break League rules and invade a German industrial city. These two coutries were the leaders of the league, and they broke their own rules.

A war erupted in Turkey, however the League contributed to treating the aftermath. 1,400,000 refugees, of which 80% were women and children, were constantly suffering from Typhoid and Cholera. The League sent 10 million euros and doctors to check the spread of disease and invest in beginning a new (agricultural) life for the refugees.

Sentries patrolling the Greek/Bulgaria border fired on one another and a Greek soldier was killed, so the Greek army invaded Bulgaria. The Bulgarians turned to the League for help and the League ordered both armies to stop fighting and fined Greece £45,000. Both nations accepted the decision.
