    College of Education faculty and Dean of the Libraries begin discussions on the possibility of creating a media specialist minor.
    The idea originated with the COE due to some student interest in becoming Media Specialists. Initial discussions focused on meeting the needs of these students.

    When media specialists and university librarians became involved, the focus of the discussions broadened to creating an information literacy minor for all College of Education students (and others who are interested).

    The idea was to prepare students to teach information literacy skills to their own future students in addition to learning about the roles of media specialists and how to collaborate with them.
