    Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin. He moved to Georgia and while he was there he invented the cotton gin. The cotton gin seperates the cottonseed from the cotton fiber. This invention was needed because the multiplying cotton factores in the north. The south needed a way to keep the flow of cotton steady.This invention changed society because it sent enormous amounts of cotton up north that was never seen before.

    Christopher Sholes invented the typewriter. It is a small machine with type keys that stamp one character at a time onto a piece of paper. He invented it in Milwaukee. This invention let people type letters or anything that needed to be on paper quickly, neatly, and effiecently.

    The Reaper was invented by Cyrus McCormick. The reaper was a rotating wheel that would be used in the field and the rotating wheel was full of blades. The blades where shar and cut the grain significantly faster then previous methods. The invention was needed because demands for grain where becoming larger with more people moving to the industrialized north. It was invented in Virginia where he was from. This changed society because it was a big step to mass producing food for large cities.

    The first rotary washing machine was invented by Hamilton Smith in 1858. This machine would wash away dirt and stains from clothes. This was an important invention because before, you had to use a scrub board and it was very hard tedious work. Now, it is very easy to wash the days work off your clothes.
