Nationalism began in India in the 1800's. People began to get upset known they were under British control. People couldn't have there own busineses because that meant competition for the British.

The Indian National Congress began to fight for Indian rights. This group mainly attracted Indian Hindus.

Gandhi started his non-violent protest for rights. He created civil disobediance (the non-violent refusal to obey an unfair law).

In the early 1900's, French gained power of a country in Southeast Asia called Indochina. Nationalism was also here.

Minh began to work for Vietmanese independance from the French.He thought Communist Party was a good route to take.

The Muslim League began fighting for rights in India in 1906. This league mainly attracted Islam members.

In 1919, British authorities opened fire on a large gathering of Indians in Amritsar. There were 400 killed and another 1200 wounded.

Minh created the Vietminh League. This group had independance as its goal.

In 1935, the British gave up and passed the Government of India Act. This gave India some self-government.

British rule came to an end. India is under its on rule finally.

United States began getting involved with Vietmanese politics.

French surrendered control of the country to Minh.

The war ended and the U.S. withdrawed thier forces from Vietnam. The last U>S> helicopters left in April 1956.
