David Livingstone was sent to southern Africa to convert Africans to Christianity and end the business of selling captured Africans as slaves. He was not heard from in several years and to the New York Herald sent Henry Morton Stanley to search for him. He was found on November 10, 1871. -

The Indian National Congress was formed to gain more rights. This caused nationalism to arise among Indians. -
Boxer Rebellion
Peasants set siege on European section of Beijing for months. The Chinese government allowed this to happen. Europeans finally defeated them. -
Boer War Ends
The Boers fought with the British in the early 1800s regarding land and slavery. The Boer War was the first modern "total" war. Britain won the Boer War.
