This act was mainly targeted at the Chinese and South-Sea Islanders as they were the main immigrants before this act was enforced. Because of this not many cultural food were introduced into Australia at that time.

They used the slogan ‘populate or perish’ and they negotiated to have over 2 million people accepted into the country. The Immigration Restriction Act was lifted & people were then allowed to migrate into Australia. Some of there food are sandwiches & Cornish pasties from England & dumplings from China.

    From 1990 to now Asylum seekers come to Australia on boats from countries which are currently involved and at war. They have fled to stay alive and start a new better life here in Australia. Some of the countries that asylum seekers come from are Middle Eastern countries like Saudi-Arabia Iran and Iraq as well as Sri-Lanka. Some of the foods these countries have bought with them have been baklava, baba ghanoush from the Middle East and gotukola sambol from Sri-Lanka.
