At the dock getting on a boat to America.
My mother died the other day. I have nothing left for me in Ireland. No job, no family, no money. I took the last of our savings from under my moms bed witch totoals to 600$. I hope America will have better opurtunities for me than Dublin does now -
Landing in America
I finally landed in America. Met a nice family who agreed to take me west with them on one condition. Do hard labor for them and they will feed and clothe me until i am able to buy my own home in the west. America seems like a nice place and New York is definetley very busy. The immigration process was very easy becuase i am with a family i acted as a child and went through Ellis Island -
Mugged
Two men at the resturaunt jumped the family that is taking care of me. I jumped in and i was imeaditley punched in the face and knocked to the ground. They took all of my mothers savings but did not take any money from the Carpenters the family i am working for heading west. -
Heading West
Left the dirty apartment that my group of people lived in for a few months and finally started heading west. The father of the famiy caring for me's name is Cullen and he plans to settle in Oklahoma. We left on a wagon with two mules we bought at the local market. Or wagon is loaded with supplies we will need on our journey -
Landing In Oklahoma
Finally landed in Oklahoma. It was a long tiring journey with sickness, bandits and death. One of the young boys who is in the family i am with died of fever two months ago. I helped build a log cabin and am currently saving up for my own home so i can move out and stop being a burden to this family -
Moving Out
Finally have enough money. Leaving the family that has cared for me for so long. I am so grateful of them. I bought my own horse and am traveling through the west looking for the perfect place for my own farm. Land here is free and the options are endless. Thanks to the Homestead Act i can get free land -
My own farm
My life now is a lot better. Met my wife and built my own farm from the ground up in the Oklahoma territory. I have many animals and a good 4 acres just to myslef for my farming needs. America is sure a great place and im glad i came here
